Prior to any decision on the brief a feasibility study was conducted, testing various mixes of residential and office, and subdivisions of floor plates. Alongside this was the understanding of a changing world, especially in the face of COVID-19, and what nuances the residential and office spaces should respond and adapt to.
The 1980s office building is situated just on the outskirts of the historic city centre of the Hanseatic city Lübeck, a UNESCO world heritage site. The property has become part of the wider city's inner fabric, as it continues to grow, situated at the cross-roads of the historic, residential, and business sectors of the city. This evolution of the city's fabric is now sought after in the programme of the building, with the brief asking for the modernisation.
