HUMMINGBIRD
LEARNING LAB

We are incredibly excited to share that Studio 8FOLD is a joint winner of the Architecture Today competition for the Hummingbird Learning Lab.

Hummingbird is rethinking what a learning environment can be. A place rooted in inquiry, curiosity and discovery, where learning happens through experiencing the real world, having a go, testing ideas and trying again.
A place that encourages young people to be caring, curious, courageous, calm in uncertainty and committed. To develop agency, nurture wellbeing and understand their ability to have a positive impact on themselves, others and the world around them.

What might the architecture for that look like?

Importantly, this will not be architecture developed in a silo, and are enormously excited to explore that question alongside Invisible Studio and Pearce+.

From the outset, our thinking has been shaped through collaboration with Simple Works and Regenerative Works on structures and systems, Ian Boyd of Common Space on ecology, and Ben Webb of Planit on regenerative landscape design.

We are very grateful to the whole team for the thinking, conversations and generosity that helped us get here.
