The project responds to a brief brought forward by the local community of Nettelstedt. Their request was clear: an alternative housing option for an ageing population. The kids have moved out, a single-family home in a large plot of land is no fit, and nor do they have any desire to live in the typical, sterile and characterless frail care home. We put forward the idea of a "village within a village", with a nuanced take on co- and inter-generational living, in a rural town.​
